Kawela Bay Kahuku

Kawela Bay a fairly secluded beach in Kahuku on the North Shore of Oahu, adjacent to Turtle Bay Resort. It’s a fairly secluded location hidden along Kamehameha Highway. The Kawela Bay Beach Park is a very nice and quiet beach perfect for hanging out and swimming. Because of it’s scenic location, it’s a wonderful location for engagement photography session on Oahu. Kawela Bay is about an hour’s drive from Honolulu.

Kawela Bay’s shore is lined with coconut trees and ironwood trees that provide plenty of shade. The waters on Kawela Bay are also relatively calm year-round providing a calm and peaceful environment. By the beach is a large banyan tree and plenty of vegetation, providing a mini jungle trail which can also make for interesting engagement photos.

Street parking is available along Kamehameha Highway where a footpath can be found leading to Kawela Bay. One challenge for couples holding engagement photo shoots in Kawela Bay is the lack of public restrooms and changing rooms. It would be a good idea to bring a makeshift changing area such as a tent if an outfit change is a necessary part of your engagement session.

While beach engagement sessions on Oahu are fairly common, Kawela Bay provides variety with a calm unspoiled beach, and lush greenery and vegetation available just a few steps away.
